EFFECT OF EYES PROTECTION USAGE TO SHARPNESS OF VISION OF WELDING WORKSHOP EMPLOYEES AT TOUR BUS

ABSTRACT

Background : Sharpness of vision was a problem of work safety and healthy on welding shops. According to the Riset Kesehatan Dasar (RISKESDAS), there were 8 provinces which had low vision prevalances over the national prevalances, including Yogyakarta as much as 6,7%. Eyes protection tools usage when employees of welding shops made welding progress was factor which influence the sharpness of vision.

Objectives : This research intend to know the effect of using eyes protection to sharpness of vision, to know the sharpness of vision and usage of eyes protection of welding shops employees at tour bus terminal area of Ngabean, Yogyakarta Regency

Research Method: This research was used cross sectional research design. Sampling pick up was used total sampling. Numbers of samples in this research as musc as 36 peoples. Research data was get from primer data.

RESULT : Research result showed most respondents characteristic according to age were 20 – 30 years (41,7%), last education of Senior High School (47,2%), types of welds which used were carbide-electricity (50%), work period more than 2 years (83,3%), exposure time 4 – 6 hours (58,3%), didn’t use the eyes protection (61,1%), normal sharpness of vision (63,9%). According to statistic analize result there was significant effect between usage of eyes protection to the sharpness of vision (p < 0,05) p = 0,005, OR = 7,636.

Conclution : There is significant effect between eyes protection usage to sharpness of vision , there are 23 people (63%) who have normal sharpness of vision and 13 people (36,1%) abnormal, respondent who didn’t use eyes protection 22 people (61,1%) and 14 people who didn’t use eyes protection
